Visit to IndusInd Bank

They say anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Hence, to give wings to the learning objective of aspiring Bankers, the management organised a visit to IndusInd Bank’s M. G. Road branch on 20/12/17. The entire episode was escorted under the tutelage of Prof. Shegorika Lalchandani, who is an Associate Professor of Finance & Accounts. Such visits are an integral component of Career Trek scheme that aims at ensuring that all participants are enlightened with a practical outlook, something that is mundane with IILM’s teaching model.

Visiting one of the top Indian banks certainly added lilies to the bouquet as it gave us a glimpse of a typical work environment in a bank. Eager to grasp all that we could, we were fortunate to meet Mr. Parvinder Singh, who holds the coveted position of Bank Manager. He graciously outlined several notions that drives the banking industry in a crisp fashion throughout a very descriptive conversation. He also briefed about the expected level of understanding, the type of attitude and the right set of skills that a candidate must exhibit to perform and reach to the zenith in banking industry. It is a well established fact that Banking is a very dynamic industry and one needs to be agile in carrying out any operation as a bank employee.

Furthermore, Mr. Singh apprised us with the trends & concepts such as FinTech, Industrial Revolution 4.0, how the sector has evolved in 21st century and how bright the future looks like for Bankers. He narrated a process called ‘4 eyes’ to justify how meticulously a transaction is carried out in a bank to minimalize the possibility of an error/fraud. All operations and activities, are thus carried with rapt attention as any folly could tantamount to severe repercussions. At last, he welcomed and sorted questions escalated by us and suggested that one must always be inclined towards working hard to reap the most desired dividends in life.

In the nutshell, it was an enthralling experience that added interest to our bank of knowledge and intrigued us to possess & analyse with a pragmatic frame of mind to connect better with classroom teachings.

Art of Management

Management is a subject that defines practical knowledge of lifestyles and mannerism to develop a business on strict terms and procedures. on the contrary, poetry is an expression of my views, perceptions and feelings conveyed through words of wisdom.

management is itself an art, an art defining self-development goals.

management and poetry are two ends of the same rope. for me, one is to enhance my knowledge and personality with an exposure to varied fields and concepts while the other end leads me to a more relaxed version of myself wherein I am composed, idealistic, imaginative and innovative.

art nurtures my soul and strengthens my aspirations through different goals of management“.

Time is a journey,
Of joys n sorrows.
Moments become a memory,
lightning the path for tomorrow.
Tomorrow, is unknown
for the facts we own.
Time is a measure,
discovering self creations.
Through ways of leisure,
forming insecure upgradations.
Upgradation is a necessity,
for our lively vicinity.
Time is a treasure,
for lonely admirers.
Business is plushy pressure,
discovered through real mirrors.
Mirror, an unbiased cage,
defining our complete image.
Time is a story,
furnished in a short memory.
fore-gone is history.
Followed by, is a mystery!
Mystery, is a heavenly gesture
personifying a lifetime adventure.”

HR CONFERENCE 2017

“HR & Fourth Industrial Revolution: Dealing with People in the age of Artificial Intelligence”

IILM Graduate School of Management

16, Knowledge Park II, Greater Noida-201 306

28th October, (Saturday) 2017

IILM Graduate School of Management, Greater Noida is in continuous pursuit of all-round excellence in Management Education by narrowing the gap between academia and industry. To that end, IGSM, Greater Noida organized a day-long HR Conference on the theme “HR & Fourth Industrial Revolution: Dealing with people in the age of Artificial Intelligence” on Saturday, 28th October, 2017 at its Greater Noida Campus. A dynamic era of change in the world of work has introduced Fourth Industrial Revolution, which will be shaped by a range of new technologies and innovations like virtual reality, the internet of things, smart robots and artificial intelligence. Advent of machines powered by artificial intelligence has already strongly influenced the work. There are three possibilities in future – machines will replace humans; or it can make people better in what they are doing; or it can invent entirely new jobs. The conference covered a wide range of different horizons related to AI.

Inaugural Session:

The Conference began with a Welcome Address by Dr. Taruna Gautam, Director, IGSM, followed by an introduction to the Conference theme by Dr. Shyamali Satpathy, Conference Chair. Our chief guest Dr. Kamal Singh addressed the students about the dramatically changing business environment where team members have to overcome space, time and cultural barriers to deliver and sustain in the competition. He also highlighted on new information age, internet of things and artificial intelligence are disrupting existing business models and affecting their long term feasibility.

Dr. Singh during his Inaugural session discussed about the challenges that India is facing such as, Firstly, Challenge of leadership – India faces a problem of leadership and we need to work hard to fill the deficit that we are facing today. Secondly, Challenge of Technology Innovation – Technology is changing every second, e.g.; earlier libraries were the only source of information but today google has taken over all sources of information. Thirdly, Challenge of Uncertainty – Uncertainty makes us think differently. We should be prepared for before for the uncertainty strikes us causing more adverse situations to deal. Fourthly, New Changes – Today countries like China, Taiwan, Japan and Korea are among the countries which are advancing in the technologies especially in the area of Artificial intelligence. He also mentioned that the current technological revolution need not become a race between humans and machines but rather an opportunity for work where people recognize their full potential.

The Chief Guest of the Conference Dr. Kamal Singh, Executive Director, UN Global Compact Network

The Keynote Speaker of the Conference Mr. Satyakki Bhattacharjee, Executive Council and CPO, ABP News,

Mr. Satyakki Bhattacharjee elaborated on the broad idea about Artificial Intelligence with its definition and examples. For every organization, human resources (HR) are like their treasured assets. In order to faster the employee performances, efforts should be directed to treat them carefully and effectively. Every entity wants to attract and retain talented employees to work for them at top levels. Hence, it is very difficult to achieve organizational objectives without managing human resources effectively.

The International Conference oriented to highlight the importance of human resource management for every organization be it government or private. There is no doubt that the conference has brought out the essence of the theme “Organizational Excellence through the power of human capital” in all its aspects and that too in a brilliant manner. The theme is so relevant in today’s context especially when HR as a function is facing lot of challenges and transition.

There was a time when employee management was once referred as workforce management, and then transformed to Personnel Management. Later the same transformed into human resource management and then Human Capital. And now it is Talent Management. In some organization HR is referred as Business partner and that is more strategic in nature. No doubt, HR has now become more dynamic and crucial to the success of the organization in creating excellence. And increasingly the organizations have started realizing that any mistake on this could be a costly one.
We had many leaders from different industry giving their views and perspective on the dynamics of HR. It is very interesting to note that these views came from multiple industry right from an Aircraft manufacturing company, Consulting, Insurance, Consumer durables and to Software
